Automotive Air Conditioning in Arizona

In warm weather, drivers need to think about their vehicle’s air conditioning. Most people don’t service their air conditioning until after it fails. We can advise you on your vehicle's preventive maintenance needs for its air conditioner, like we do for transmission service, oil changes, ect.

Small leaks in the car's air conditioning system allow the refrigerant to escape and the system won't cool the air as efficiently. The refrigerant contains a special oil that lubricates components, and keeps the seals resilient. Low refrigerant and lubricating oil means that the air conditioning parts will wear out prematurely. We recommend that the air conditioner be run regularly, even during winter months, to keep the parts and seals lubricated.

Air conditioning service starts with a visual inspection for signs of damage or leaks. The compressor is driven by a belt from the engine that is inspected for cracks and wear. The air conditioning compressor and other components are checked for proper operation. If leaks can be detected, often in a hose or connection, it’s recommended to be repaired.

The old refrigerant is evacuated and the system is recharged. A final test insures that the vehicle's air conditioner is working. Typically, we recommend this service every two years.

If you’re not getting enough cold air, something may be wrong. Also, if you hear strange sounds when you turn the air on, there might be a problem with the system and you should get it checked out. Replacing a bad A/C clutch in a vehicle is less expensive than waiting for it to damage the compressor.
